With profound regret, we, Crishna Murthy, wife of Dak Murthy, and Mihir Murthy, son of Dak Murthy, announce the passing of Dak Murthy this morning. Dak valiantly fought for more than 6 years with progressive muscle atrophy, but succumbed to its wrath in the end. Undoubtedly, the disease has proved that it is far bigger, mightier than any one of us could conquer. Dak experienced massive respiratory distress and could not recover from it.
Dak leaves behind his wife, Crishna Murthy, an attorney, and his only child, Mihir Murthy, an engineer, three brothers, three sisters, and nieces, nephews, cousins, and vast number of friends and colleagues.
Dak just reached 65 on January 5th. He was born in Chennai (Madras) and lived his first 30 years in Chennai. He graduated as an engineer from Anna University in Chennai, India and worked nearly 10 years before migrating to USA.
Dak completed his Masters from NJIT and obtained professional engineering license. He also obtained a number of ASQ certifications and held regular teaching sessions to promote quality. He has been working for NJ Transit for 32 years, and for the last 11 years, as Director of Quality. He volunteered hundreds of hours to American Society of Quality, both locally and as a Team judge.
Before passing away, Dak expressed and wanted to convey his deep sense of gratitude to all of you for helping, especially during the last brutal six years of his life.
The viewing will be held at Franklin Memorial Park between 9am-11am.
